First of the NSW Jeanneau Cup Races

by Jeanneau Australia

Yet again the Jeanneau fleet were greeted to a superb sailing day for the first of our Jeanneau Cup events for the season hosted by Middle Harbour Yacht Club.

A building N'Easter and blazing sunshine made it a superb day to be on the water, though during the afternoon cloud cover had the breeze ease despite the forecast. The pursuit style of handicap racing is great fun as first home wins, so the lowest handicapped entry the Sun Odyssey 36i  "Aurora II" started first, with the SO39i "SLac'n'off" 3 minutes later. Three Sun Odyssey 349's had very close racing all day and several times all three were only boat lengths apart.

In the end William Wade on the 349 "Eau Well" just pipped David Day and partners on "Arawai" by just 8 seconds, with the Peppernell/Lee/Conway owned "Solution" taking third to make it a 349 trifecta. Well done to all the crews and thanks to MHYC for hosting us yet again. We look forward to the second edition of the series to be held on Saturday November 26th.
